SW LRT Trail North

To find the north corridor trail, follow the south corridor trail past the Hopkins Depot CoffeeHouse, pass under the Hwy 169 bridge and then take a right at 5th Ave. Follow 5th Ave north across Excelsior Blvd to 1st St, turn left down 1st St and after you cross 9th Ave you will see the crushed limestone trail crossing the street.

Once you pass through Hopkins, you will come to Minnetonka Blvd (Hwy 5). The trail follows along the south side of Minnetonka Blvd for a couple miles before departing the roadside for a much quiter and senic ride.

On the way to the big lake, the trail passes through large wooded areas with several small ponds.

After passing Carson Bay, the trail follows along the shore of Lake Minnetonka for a stretch with views of Big Island.

After passing through Excelsior and Shorewood, one of the major street crossings you will come upon is Hwy 13. Hwy 13 becomes Bavaria Road to the south and there is a trail along the east side of the road that leads into Chaska.

After crossing the park road you will come to entrance for the Carver Park Reserve off the LRT trail.

There are a couple miles of newly paved trails which meander through the park reserve.

The park is very quiet during the weekdays, but I imagine it gets a lot more traffic in the evenings and on the weekends.

I should get heading home for I have a two hour ride ahead of me.
